Terms of Service

By purchasing or using any file from Speedcam-Update.com, you agree to the following terms in full.

1. Nature of the product

Speedcam-Update.com ("we", "us", "the Service") provides digital POI (Points of Interest) files intended for import into Renault R-Link 2 navigation systems. These files are informational aids and are delivered electronically as downloadable ZIP archives via a secure email link valid for thirty (30) days after purchase.

2. Independence from Renault S.A.

Speedcam-Update.com is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Renault S.A., Renault Group, or any of their subsidiaries. "R-Link®" is a registered trademark of Renault S.A. and is used here for purely descriptive purposes to identify the compatible system.

3. Eligibility and legal use

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally permitted to purchase digital products in your country of residence. You further confirm that the use of POI files indicating danger zones or speed camera locations is legal in your jurisdiction. Some countries prohibit or restrict the display of exact speed camera locations on in-car navigation systems — it is your sole responsibility to verify local law before using the file.

4. Accuracy of information

We make reasonable efforts to maintain accurate and up-to-date POI data, compiled from publicly available sources and community contributions. However, we make no warranty, express or implied, regarding completeness, accuracy, reliability or fitness for purpose. Speed camera locations may change without notice; temporary mobile controls cannot be predicted; local authorities may deploy new devices between our monthly releases. The file is provided "as is" and "as available".

5. Compliance with local regulations

In France, Belgium and certain other EU jurisdictions, the law requires navigation systems to display "danger zones" rather than exact camera pinpoints. Our files are configured to comply with each country's regulation at the time of release. It is your responsibility to ensure continued compliance if laws change in your country.

6. Delivery and download access

Upon successful payment via Stripe, you will receive an email containing a secure, personal download link. This link is valid for thirty (30) days and allows a reasonable number of downloads (limited to prevent abuse). You are responsible for downloading the file within this window. Lost links within the validity period can be re-issued upon request via our support channel.

7. Licence to use

Upon payment, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, personal licence to use the file for your own R-Link 2 equipped vehicle. You may not:

• Resell, redistribute, share, rent, or commercially exploit the file;
• Upload the file to any public server, forum, torrent network, or file-sharing platform;
• Create derivative products for commercial use;
• Remove or alter any copyright or attribution notices.

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website (text, images, code, design, data compilations) is the property of Speedcam-Update.com and protected by applicable copyright and database rights laws. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.

9. Modification of terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute arising from the use of the Service shall be submitted exclusively to the competent courts of France, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the buyer's country of residence.

Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum data required to process your order and deliver your file. We do not sell, rent, or share your information.

Data we collect

• Email address — provided at checkout via Stripe, used to deliver your download link and provide support.
• Payment data — processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor (stripe.com/privacy).
• Order metadata — order ID, amount, currency, purchase timestamp.
• Server logs — IP address and browser user-agent at the time of download, retained for security and fraud prevention.

How we use your data

We use the data exclusively to: process your order, deliver the file, provide customer support, detect fraudulent activity, and comply with our legal obligations (accounting, tax records).

Legal basis for processing (GDPR Article 6)

Data processing is based on: contract performance (delivering what you purchased), legitimate interest (fraud prevention, service improvement), and legal obligation (accounting retention requirements).

Retention periods

• Email and order data: retained for ten (10) years for accounting purposes, as required by French commercial law;
• Download access logs: retained for twelve (12) months, then anonymised;
• Support correspondence: retained for two (2) years after the last interaction.

Cookies and tracking

This website uses no analytics tracking, no advertising cookies, no third-party tracking pixels. The Stripe checkout overlay may set strictly necessary cookies required for payment processing, governed by Stripe's own cookie policy.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to: access your data, rectify it, request erasure, restrict processing, object to processing, and data portability. You may also file a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL) at any time.

Data location and transfers

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. Payment processing by Stripe may involve transfers to the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Refund Policy

We want you to be fully satisfied. We offer an unconditional 30-day refund — no questions asked.

How to request a refund

Simply send an email to admin@speedcam-update.com with:

• Your Stripe order reference (shown on your receipt, starts with cs_);
• The email address used at checkout.

That's it. No explanation needed. We typically process refunds within 3 business days. The amount will be credited back to the original payment method used at checkout.

After the 30-day period

Beyond the 30-day window, refunds are handled case-by-case. Contact us — we will always try to find a fair solution.

Statutory rights

This refund policy is offered in addition to, and does not replace, any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws, including the 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU. Please note that Article 16(m) of that Directive allows traders to exclude the right of withdrawal for digital content once the download has been initiated — our 30-day policy is a voluntary, more generous commitment on our part.
